Last week Dollar Cricket Club played in a new fixture with Her Majesty’s Prison Glenochil. The match was organised by Wattie Reekie, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Glenochil, and Adam Buchanan-Smith the Chairman and Captain of Dollar.
For obvious reasons the game was an away match for Dollar. Because of the match being played in the Glenochil gymnasium the laws of cricket had to be slightly altered especially the method of scoring.
Owing to the numbers of players wishing to become involved three teams were picked with each team having a mixture of home and away players. The competition was played on a Round Robyn basis. The games were fast and furious with the scorer Peter Kirkwood having to be extremely vigilant to keep up with play.
All the participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves with several memorable highlights including a hat trick from one of the home players. When Health and Wellbeing Manager Wattie Reekie came to the crease there was a significant increase in the home bowling which was racked up a few notches.
Both home team and Dollar players had a very good time with the knowledge that future fixtures will take place.
