A wee stumble for the Mighty DCC

DCC Stumble…….

Well after a rich vein of form Marcus thought he would desert the team and take a wee trip skiing! Trying to impress the boys were well behaved and everyone had a quiet Saturday evening, in hindsight this was probably the main issue for the lack lustre batting performance.

Buck opened with Fox and surprisingly ran him out within 3 balls. That brought about Mel and with a few shots he was gone too, regulation catch. Harold came in at four and with a swashbuckling display managed to increase the score by 1, before being run out by a direct hit! Tom Hall followed and after a few good opening nurdles, he decided to scoop one to mid on. The score was dire, 24 for 4 off 5 overs, and most of those had been extras.

In step the returning Captain to put on a quite magnificent something or other and with Jason staying off of strike we charge to an incredible 61.

We opened with Fox and as usual he got a nick in the first over, but this time it did not go to hand. A run out followed and great pressure from Mel, Jas and Fox had Doune on 9 from 4 with one wicket down. A great fumble by Fox, a miss field or too from Spoff & Mel and a sitter dropped by Tom, a few nice bouncers (not enjoyed by square leg umpire) from Jason and we were on the brink of a memorable win. They required 16 of the last 2 overs, unfortunately there main threat had carried his bat to a 25 retired. Quick wickets followed which meant 5 were required of the last over, Buck took the ball.

A strong straight 4 brought up the winning run and with an aggressive field the game was on an knife edge. 2 Dot balls, only two remained…..

Buck ran in with a camouflaged googlie, and BOOM! It got hit back down the track for 4, game over!

In summing up a poor batting show by all but Buck was made up for by a spirited fielding and bowling attack. Unlucky boys!

Cheers H

PS A huge thanks to Turkish for scoring, however, I’m not sure he will remember being at the game……
